The City of Firebaugh is committed to ensuring that people with disabilities have equal access to City programs, services, facilities, and information — including this website and our public documents.

ADA Coordinator

The City of Firebaugh has designated an ADA Coordinator to oversee compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act and to respond to requests for accommodation.

Notice Under the Americans with Disabilities Act

In accordance with the requirements of Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (“ADA”), Public Law 101-336, the City of Firebaugh will not discriminate against qualified individuals with disabilities on the basis of disability in its services, programs, or activities.

If you need a reasonable accommodation to participate in a City program, service, or activity, contact the ADA Coordinator as far in advance as possible — and at least 48 hours before a scheduled meeting or event.

Self-Evaluation & Transition Plan

The City of Firebaugh, in collaboration with the City of Firebaugh Disability Advisory Committee, is conducting an ADA self-evaluation and transition plan. Areas being evaluated include facility and program accessibility, accommodations for individuals with disabilities, and administrative policies and procedures.

ADA Grievance Procedure

Anyone who believes the City has not provided equal access, or has discriminated on the basis of disability, may file a grievance. The procedure below is provided here in accessible HTML; the form is also available on request.

  1. Submit the grievance in writing to the ADA Coordinator, including your name, contact information, and a description of the problem and the access you are requesting.
  2. File as soon as possible, and generally within sixty (60) calendar days of the alleged barrier or denial of access.
  3. The ADA Coordinator (or designee) will respond, typically within fifteen (15) business days, in a format accessible to you, and will arrange to meet if needed.
  4. If the response does not resolve the issue, you may request a review by the City Manager.
  5. Filing a grievance with the City does not affect your right to pursue other remedies, including a complaint with a state or federal agency.

Website Accessibility Statement

The City of Firebaugh is committed to making firebaugh.org and its documents accessible to the widest possible audience, regardless of ability or technology.

Conformance target

We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA — the standard referenced by the U.S. Department of Justice’s 2024 ADA Title II rule for state and local government websites. Public documents are remediated toward PDF/UA-1 (ISO 14289-1).

Measures we take

  • Pages are built with semantic structure, descriptive headings, meaningful link text, and sufficient color contrast.
  • The site is operable by keyboard and compatible with screen readers.
  • New public documents are produced as accessible HTML or tagged, accessible PDFs.
  • We do not use accessibility “overlay” widgets; accessibility is built into the site itself.
